When did baby showers become mundane and passé?

Lisa Fortin is one of the rare people who makes a living by cooking, but never actually tastes what’s in her pot.

That’s because Fortin, the founder of Placenta Healing Arts in Brooklyn, is part of a small, but growing profession that cooks placentas for new moms and makes them into pills that allegedly stave off postpartum depression, provide an energy boost and enhance milk production. I’m all for things that prevent and/or ease depression, as I suffer from it. But there’s something really Aliens about this and I’m not really buying the argument that because animals and mammals do it, there’s value in it.  However, people being the weird fucks they are because there’s no value in being normal, evidently have parties for it. 

I pray that one day I do have my own lil’ one, and when that time comes pass the Xanax and vodka, thank you very much.
